When a truth can neither guide nor change anything, is refusing to know it wisdom, or giving up on facing reality?
An incurable hereditary disease runs in your family. A reliable test can tell you, years in advance, whether you will one day develop it; no treatment currently exists to prevent it. Would the result change how you shape your life, or would it only weigh on your days? The laboratory informs you that the result is available. One word from you and they will send it; one word and they will destroy it, and no one will ever know it. What do you decide?
